Dr. Victor A. Bacile Scholarship Program

In 1960, Dr. Victor A. Bacile began a scholarship fund that continues to support students affiliated with the Italian Center, in their pursuit of a college degree.

Dr. Bacile was a well-respected obstetrician who began practicing in the Poughkeepsie area in the late 1930’s.  He had privileges at what was, then, St. Francis Hospital and delivered thousand babies over his 50-year career until his retirement in the 1980s.

Dr. Bacile was president of the Italian Center from 1939-1940.

In his memory, each year, The Italian Center awards up to four scholarships of $4,000 each to deserving students.  Recipients must be members of the Italian Center or a spouse or child of a current member.
